Have you tried adding on a more experienced driver as a 'named driver'? NB: I'm NOT suggesting putting YOUR name as an additional driver on a policy taken out by SOMEONE ELSE on your car. That's 'fraud by false representation' (or 'fronting') and strictly illegal. But adding a parent (or other experienced driver) onto your OWN policy, as a 'named driver', can result in a substantial reduction in your premium. (It's completely legal and totally irrelevant as to whether that person will ever actually drive your car).
Also, have you considered the Pass Plus scheme, which will get you substantial discounts with many insurers?
