Is there an alternative to BT

After getting yet another phone bill from BT, with the charges costing more than the calls, and the charge of £4.50 for the priviledge of paying the thing, i am wondering if there is a cheaper alternative. I think there always has to be a BT line if I am using the internet - is that correct? It's probably complicated but it might be cheaper to use a mobile phone for all calls, if I was on the right tarriff of course. Thanks for any help, no rush tho'.

Shop around. Virgin Media are good for phone, broadband and tv. Get a price and when you tell BT you are leaving, they might negotiate a price reduction. A win if you leave or stay.

Hi, if it's just the phone and internet you want then the post office are quite reasonable. They don't charge for paying the bill like BT do either. Line rental is cheaper than BT and all evening and weekend calls are free as are calls to mobiles at the weekend. I was with them for a few years and had no trouble at all. Only left as I wanted a new Sky box as Freeview doesn't work great where I live and my Sky box was on it's last legs.

Hi fender, do you still have to pay to connect to Talk Talk. My friends had to pay them a £30 connection fee to join and also to leave, they were not amused. Put me off and they were also AOL which I personally don't like. I always find them too slow to connect to anything. Is it still the same?

bigsister,I don't know if you have Sky television,but if you do broadband is free with them and havn't had any problems.Good Luck
