i have to visit the embassy on thursday. i will be making my way there from victoria coach station on foot. ive googled for directions and have been given this warning "Use caution – This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths". does anyone know if i can safely walk this route, or am i likely to end up trapesing up some red route with lorries and busses whizzing by me, horns blaring, whilst i pray for dear life...
crossing Piccadilly is the main hassle, but there are lights.
You could go by tube - One stop Victoria-Green Park on the Victoria line, then one stop to Bond St on the Jubilee line. Otherwise walk up Grosvenor Place and Park Lane is the simplest.
That message about missing sidewalks is because Google's pedestrian directions is in an early stage of development and they don't have all the information. The route they produce has pavements all the way. It does however have very heavy traffic. There's a much nicer route which is half a mile shorter by going round the front of Buckingham Palace and across Green Park then up through Mayfair. Try dragging Google's route to the Palace and see what it gives you. Enjoy your day.
Deviating slightly, are you going to the embassy to get a visa? Rumour has it they won`t let you bring in any cameras, mobiles or electronic car keys. Just a thought.
