The article states the ban on wheel clamping is part of the Freedom Bill being put forth November 2010. However, in their section regarding private wheel clamping, which is regulated by the SIA, the SIA website states the following under the "immobilising of vehicles on private land" section:
"On 17 August 2010, the Government announced that wheel clamping on private land will be banned in England and Wales. The ban will be introduced in the Freedom Bill in November and will come into force after Royal Assent".
I can't find anything to say one way or the other if it's gained Royal Assent though. Also, the proposed ban is only for vehicles parked on private property. Government and council bodies will still be able to clamp.
