I thought it was 25 years?
Any vehicle that was first registered before 1973, regardless of its age.

thanks boxtops, That is what I believed, but can,t find any official conformation.
Old vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973 (historic vehicles)

If your vehicle was constructed before 1 January 1973, you could tax it in the 'historic vehicle' tax class. Further information can be found on leaflet INF34.

It used to be a rolling 25years but was frozen in 1997.
