Hi Everyone
I did post this in Technology and although i did receive one reply, im sure there must be lots of people who have an ADT alarm system and Sky Broadband and telephone. We have been told that we need a special filter on the alarm system and if it's going to be a lot of money, having Sky, will not be cost effective. Im going to phone Sky and ask if they will contribute to the cost, ie, free sky sports for 6 months. What do you think. Im waiting for the engineer to phone me today with the price, he did warn me that it will be expensive and that is why im hoping that Sky will help us out with some of the cost.

Why do you need a filter? Is it one of those systems that alerts a control centre? Who said you needed a filter?

AlifFlump. I was told by both ADT and Sky. It's something to do with how fast the Sky telephone exchange is, ADT cannot keep up with it if the alarm goes off. It's a monitored alarm. ADT phoned me 30 mins ago and the price is £101+VAT if we dont have it fitted the alarm wont work.
Excuse my ignorance but what is a Adt Alarm System as I have Sky?
Question Author
trt, ADT is a security system that is monitored. Its nothing to do with Sky
Hmm. Well as someone who has worked for a company who installed monitored CCTV systems for 7 years, I can honestly say I've never heard of this problem. But that doesn't mean it's not the case. However I can't understand how installing a filter at your premises will improve their exchange.
Well having looked on bet it must be an ADT thing. Certainly never heard of it on our systems no matter which ISP is used.
Found this link. It may help http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-fibre-help/48641-sky-fibre-broadband-adt-monitored-burglar-alarm-incompatible.html

Spoke to the engineers again last night, the thing we need is a CSL Digi plus box CS200. They suggest that we ask Sky to switch off S.V.B.N in the hub and see if that works 1st which will save us £120. BT, Talktalk and Virgin all work on a speed of 400 but Sky is faster. Does that make more sense(it does'nt to me).
Hi. Im afraid i dont know what that means. Getting technically out of my league. Sorry. Have seen a few people having problems when you search sky and adt alarms.
