I was taxed by one of these piggy banks a couple of years ago doing 90 in a 70 on a dry clear bright night on a deserted road in perfect conditions for the speed, and received 3 points and a 60 fine.

I'd be extremely surprised if you get anything more than 3pts/60.

hey flip flop. im not sure like. it wasnt grt weather from what i can remember. im so worried. dont want to get a ban and dont want to have to go to court. did u get a letter through the door or did u get pulled?
Expect 4 penalty points and a fine of 45 to 100.

This site makes for interesting reading:

It's a shame you weren't so worried when you were driving down that motorway.

hey ethel. as the saying goes u learn from ur mistakes.
it should be only 3 pts and 60 fine, have you got any other pts.
Question Author
no i havent got any other points. had three six yrs ago. but they are off now. itsjust that the letter says its a court summons. it doesnt mention anything about what kind of penaltie could be incurred. dreading having to go to court, if i have to. plus the county that caught me are about 100 hundred miles away from me. arrrgghhh. im so stupid!
Personally, if it were up to me, I'd give you a trophy for managing to get to 95 on the M4!
If you can be bothered, see pepipoo.com.
deb, im only questionning this - but im going off your name here- you didnt get 95 in an astra did you ??? if so, im sure youll get applauded in court.
most police forces wont send you to court unless you are doing 96 or over in a 70. Luck? Nope.

limit, guidline for court (6 points+)
20 35
30 50
40 66
50 76
60 86
70 96

I very much doubt you will be banned unless you were in roadworks or something
Interesting Pagey - where do you get those guidelines from?

The bench book here
http://www.jsboard.co.uk/downloads/acbb/comple te_06v2.pdf

Has 21-30 mph over the limit in 60-70mph limit as 4 or 5 points or disqualify for up to 42 days.

It's dated April 05 - do you have a more up to date reference?

In any case debstra you're probably OK unless you have previous points.

Note if you've held a full license for less than 2 years and you rack up 6 points your license will be revoked and you'll have to retake your test.

hi mate i was caught doing 98 on the m4 buy the seven bridge and i got a sp50 and 5pts and a fine of 150 but sadly i think the law is at the judge's descrestion if you are within 5 mph of 100 they can ban you if they wish but i think that would be very unlikely unless it was tipping it down and it was not safe to drive at that speed
