for security and parking reasons we should like to get our small close unadopted, and would then be responsible for it ourselves. is there a procedure? has anyone any knowledge of anything similar?

have you any idea what you'd be taking on? The cost of resurfacing alone would be massive, and don't forget all your services are down there - who's going to pay when the water main bursts? What if someone has an accident and blames the road surface - will your insurance pay?

However, as ususal, your first port of call is the council, but don't hold your breath...

if a pot hole appers you have to pay for it to be repaird and pay for resurfacing this costs a fortune if someone has an accident on the road your responsible if the water main brakes or electric cable goes wrong you have to pay to get it repaired inless you got the money

As for secirity reasons unadopting a road dose not help and as for parking problembs you should all have a drive and garage use it

And if a pot hole appers and someone complains you have to fix it you are responsible for the road and have to keep it in good condition for people like milk man delivery drivers

And being a private road you might lose councill services the road sweeper wont come down and things like that
I think that's sound advice from you both.
