I know the speed limit on a normal road is 30mph but someone told me that when you overtake you are allowed to do up to 8mph extra over the limit effectively going 38mph until you complete your maneuver and then return to the normal 30mph
Is this correct?
Or must you always stick to 30mph even when overtaking?
If this is correct is it always 8mph over the limit no matter whether it is a 30, 40, 50, 60 or 70 ?
If you need to exceed the speed limit to overtake then you either dont really need to overtake or youre accelerating because youre overtaking in wrong place
i once overtook a police car with blue lights flashing, but it was fine because i was only doing 78mph on the motorway. he took it in real good spirit and even gave me three points. now im into football and three points means a win. also them caeras love taking photos of my excelent driving and always send me a letter just to confirm i was only doing 8 mph over. they always ask for 60 for the picture though even though i dont want one ????????
i think this is one of those stupid questions deliberately asked to see how many ABers answer it. Have to give it to the guy, this is one stupid question! So well done on that score you to$$er
I wasn't taking their word for it so I was asking the question as I didn't believe it either - I was under the impression thats what this site is for???
