Recent survey on drivers' knowledge of traffic light sequence
24 Answers
I heard on the TV and radio today that an alarming number of people do not know that traffic lights go: red, red + amber, green, amber, red - GOOD GRIEF!
OK, I don't think we're expected to know EVERYTHING in the Highway Code, but surely we should ALL know the BASICS?!
Mind you, the way I see some people drive leaves me to believe that they've not even PASSED a test!

When I lived in Naples, if you stopped at a red traffic light you were yelled at by italians to avanti avanti. They only stop if there is something coming. Also, right of way out there means the person who gets their wheel in front of your wheel first has it.It was great after a while, drove a battered old fiat and joined in with the locals. Took some getting used to, then when I came home had to get used to stopping again at a red traffic light.
