I've currently got a Brother MFC-J6310dw. But I am getting "Print35" error on it, and I think there is a bit of ink sodden paper in there. To be honest, it was an OK printer when I bought it (must be 10 years ago now) but I have hammered it and it has started to misbehave in the last 18 months or so.
I need a replacement! It needs to be able to print pretty quickly and handle jobs of 500+ pages, duplex print, scan, photo and A3 would all be good too. I dont really want to spend more than around £350, but will push to £500 if I need to. After all it is a necessity for work - even though I dont use it very often, but when I do, I need an efficient machine.
Has anyone got any personal recommendations for a printer of this type of capability, please.
Well you're not going to get a full auto duplex A3 printer for less than £500. Just thought I'd mention that.
My OH spent years keeping an eye out for a A3 printer. She says, "you're not likely to get a full duplex machine, that does A3 photo prints, scan or handle jobs regularly of 500+ pages for £500".
"A4 borderless photo and duplex isn't such a bad ask, the ip7250 we have will do those, but it's literally just a printer. No scanner."
She also says, "but all those features you won't find in a single printer for £500, and certainly not for £350. It's a easy fast and cheap, pick two, scenario".
"That'll probably do it. It doesn't have duplex scan, but it seems to hit all the features they want... and looks like it will do borderless A3" - OH again.
Goodgoalie, I've tried all of that, several times.
I might ask Mr BM to get it down (it isn't in good light with easy access) and have a poke around inside it. Got nothing to lose. Although I do think it is probably worn out anyway. It's only in the last 2 years I have stopped having to print 500+ pages several times a week.
Zero - thank you very much for your help - and that of your clearly v knowledgeable other half.
Barmaid, I've compared the two and other than the fact the cheaper one doesn't allow you to print on envelopes, it seems just as capable. The power consumption is slightly higher, however not enough to warrant spending the extra 100 bones :p
That's my opinion anyway, I've asked my better half to take a look when she can.
