'Trump has Teddy Roosevelt's vigour; the man who sang, “When you’ve got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will soon follow!” Expect a fiery speech followed by a dizzying round of executive orders to repeal the Biden years and deconstruct the administrative state. Close the border, revive travel bans, suspend refugee admissions, expel illegals, end birthright citizenship, pardon Jan 6 rioters, scrap climate subsidies, cease promoting electric cars, “drill baby drill”, audit regulations, ban transgender women from sports, shut down the federal diversity drive, and cut funding to schools that promote critical race theory. Oh, and bring peace to Ukraine within 24 hours.

There will be opposition; some of this requires legislation. But Trump blows into office with conservative majorities on the Supreme Court and in Congress – and though he had the latter at the start of his first term, his position today is stronger.'

Go for it Donald!

It was from Tim Stanley's article in this morning's Telegraph, btw.

it strikes me as extremely unbritish to gush and fawn over politicians. it makes one sound like those flag-waving women swooning over their beloved dictator. creep behaviour.

I find it mildly amusing that those who claim to crave law and order support a man who tried to circumvent the last set of results and encouraged violence to take control.

Interesting times ahead...

In Western politics there seems to be a general shift to the right (as in right wing, but also as in correct) with our extreme left-wing Govt appearing to be an aberration.

It remains to be seen how Trump will treat us given the scorn and contempt with which some senior Labour people have treated him.

Surely it must be, “When you’ve got them by the pussy, their hearts and minds will soon follow!”

A great day for the USA.

MAGA Donald!

Lets hope starmer takes a leaf out of his book and starts looking after this country like he's supposed to do.

Fat chance.  He hates the UK (or at least much of the population)  as does most of his cabinet.

Meanwhile British Foreign Secretary, Lammy,  grovels around embarrassingly trying to cover up his own mess, while Labour drops lower & lower in the polls.

Trump said he will deliver on all of his election promises. He promised a lot yesterday. And of course, if it doesn't happen, it will be the fault of all those armpits in Congress.

As for taking back the name of the Gulf of Mexico and changing it to the Gulf of America, who is going to go with it? It'll still be the Gulf of Mexico to everyone else. No-one is going to change all the atlases and charts just to accomodate that one. It was the Spanish who called it that, long before the country of America existed.

10C.  Of course what we call the 'English Channel' the French call La Manche, don't forget.

It all depends on your point of view. 😃

And of course the Pas de Calais = Straits of Dover. I'm sure there are lots of others.

There is reputedly once been a headline long ago in the English press reporting: 'Severe storms in the English Channel, the Continent isolated.'
