Radiohead
I've just listened to Thom Yorke's new album and it's a tuneless, impenetrable mishmash of noises.
Radiohead were great, fantastic even. The Bends is still one of my most favourite albums. But after OK Computer they seemed to give up on tunes. I like music to be just that - music.
So can someone please explain to me why music journos rave over Radiohead?

maybe you should buy Robbie Williams new album. It sounds like it would be more to your taste!
Maybe you're just getting old?
I'm glad that Radiohead haven't rested on their laurels and are making more experimental, challenging music. If they had made another album like the bends they would have been no better than Oasis.

I'm quite fond of Thom's solo album. Then again, I liked the experimentation of the last three albums and share Master Yorke's music taste; I'm into all the bleepy stuff on Warp too(Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards Of Canada et al).
Oh, and for all you purists out there, Radiohead have plugged in their guitars again.
And they played Creep at V!!!!!!

All this stuff about "they gave up on tunes after OK Computer" is nonsense. The perception of Kid A and Amnesiac as overly experimental and lacking tunes is wildly distorted, and Hail To The Thief is bursting with tunes. On their recent tour they roadtested a load of new unreleased stuff and most of them are melodic and catchy, with a couple of driving rock songs thrown in.
I also disagree about The Eraser - it's got tunes, no question.
