A child in my daughter's class didnt turn up to her party. She definitely confirmed to me she was coming (via an adult) but on the day I kept everyone waiting for 15 mins before giving up. This made the party over run and to be honest it has p1ssed me off.
We have been away since and today was the first time I have been into school so I saw the mum in question who I hardly know. She has said nothing to me, no apology no nothing. Her child told mine she didnt know when the party was which is crap because she had an invite like everyone else. Part of me wants to confront the mother but I dont know her and I dont want to look stupid! I wouldnt dream of doing that to someone else and if it were genuine would feel mortified and apologise. So should I say anything or not?

No.
i would say "we mised *so and so" at little wig's party - i hope there wasn't a problem?
You should say something like 'I hope x is better now' and when she is all confused you can throw in the bit about how you thought she must have been unwell as she had missed your daughter's party.
No, just leave it, tigwig - why did you have to wait anyway - why was this girl's attendance so important that it held up your party?
Yeah, but all you need to say is something along the lines of "is everything ok? Xxxxxx (your childs name) missed xxxx (her childs name) at the party".
Was the confirmation from the child's mum?

Maybe the child lost the invitation. That can happen y'know :)
I wouldn't say anything...
I wouldn't, you don't know her, ok, it was very rude of her not to let you know that her chold would not be attending after all, and also for not apologising, but there's no point in confronting her now, can only cause bad feeling, I would just ignore her!.....
Was it a party at home or was it one where you had to pay for each child (at a soft play place, etc)?
I was thinking more along the lines of ...

"So, your beastly little sprog thought it was okay to stand up my daughter, and all her pals?

I suppose your brat got a "better offer" at the last minute?

Well, don't bother trying to think of a flimsy excuse, because your little wretch was not missed and, frankly, all the other girls were totally glad she didn't come."

Does that work any better?

I cant remember if it was mum herself who told me she was coming but somebody definitely did! It was a make your own pizza party at pizza hut and I didnt want to start until everyone was here. I thought she was just running late. Thankfully I didnt have to pay in the end but the mum doesnt know that does she? Unless shes on here reading this lol.

JJ right on! No only joking, all I want really is an apology and explanation. We all forget things and if thats what shes done fair enough. Cant help being annoyed though.
Is it that important, tigwig? - I would just forget it, not expect an apology. perhaps she's a casual sort of person.
Just leave it---- not really worth bothering about. The child missed the party--- so what. Why did you all have to wait for this one child before you started the party?
"Perhaps she's a casual sort of person."

Ya, but there's a difference between "casual" and "complete lack of social graces".
no. an apology, !!!!!!!!
I would just let it pass.
I am with sherrak and boo on this one. If you say that they are ill then they can not take that the wrong way, can they?
If you aren't even sure the mother confirmed the child was coming I wouldn't rock the boat by confronting her.
