Saab Cars
10 Answers
Hi. I know I'm a bit out of touch, but did Saab go to the wall, or did they get bought out so that their cars could continue in production? If Saabs are no longer in production does anyone know what the supply of parts is like for Saab cars. I'm thinking of buying one, but don't want to find I'm going to be struggling to get parts.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's likely that most Saab parts will still be fairly to easy to obtain for quite some time. (I used to work for a Ford/Citroen/Peugeot dealership that had previously been franchised by Rover as well. They continued to source and supply Rover parts).

I've run Saabs since 1990 so know more about the situation than many.
I don't anticipate any problem getting parts for mine, and this is also the opinion of the specialist repairer who I use.
When GM took over the company, a good number of the parts became common to GM - especially on later 93s.
Saab ceased to use Triumph engines in the 70s and sourced their own in their heydays of prosperity.

i just tried to get service items for a late 93 turbo diesel, the SAAB main dealer was unable to supply the air filter due to supply issues, they are in fact stocking non-gen filters as they dont anticipate the supply will get any better.
The other filters are the same as a Vectra 1.9 cdti so no problem the air filter is unique to twin turbo SAABS & Cadillac BLS.
