Erm, Green Day.  I'm just waiting for Girls Aloud to cover it next.  I mean think about it, would Green Day cover "Sk8r Boi"?  I think you have your answer.

And while I'm on the subject I heard a god awful pop version of "Nothing Else Matters" originally by Metallica on the radio today.  What is our world coming to.

Well yeah, I'm serious. I'm a fan if Greenday (though not a diehard fan) and I think they are 1000000000000000 times better than Avril, but I dunno...I think she sings Basket Case really well. Not neccessarily better, but I think she has a pretty good voice.

avril lavigne should be put to death for releasing a single in the first place!! nd why does everyone always diss busted am sorry but its just ridiculus!! what the hell have they done wrong apart from bringing out records and most of them got number one and i bet one time in someones life u wil catch urself singin a busted song.

why the hell shouldnt anyone bring out music that they want when they want despite whether certain people will like it or NOT!! so excuse me for gettin exasperated but really there is just no need for ppl to go on the way (MAGIC DICE ) has!!

FAO jade_pie "avril lavigne should be put to death for releasing a single in the first place!!" according to you, yet i can't express my opinion on busted? their cover of teenage kicks was dire, the song is twice as old as them and an absolute classic, not the sort of song anyone can get away with covering. they may be good musicians but by signing to a record company whilst knowing full well that they'd be marketed at the 13/14 year old pseudo-rock fans out there they completely abandoned all principles. good on what's-his-face for quitting such a successful band and going on to do his own project, regardless of the fact that he had a good thing going and could fall flat on his arse with fightstar. impressive.

Personally I'm of the opinion that if you can't sing a song as least as good as if not better than the original, then you have no business releasing a cover version of it in the first place.

Avril squawked and screeched Basket Case in much the same way she killed Metallica's Fuel when she performed it at MTV Ikon.

She should stick to her own brand of bubble gum pop/rock for people who don't know any better to buy and leave other people's songs alone.  IMO.
