Noraq, if you are about, that piece you asked about, the last one i posted, heard it on Classic FM, they have played it several times, and gets better with each listening.
The Morton Lauridsen is stunning, never mind the quality of the singing. Thanks Em for that revelation. I have a friend who will love this work.

I shall make an endeavour to track down some of his other work such as
Contre Qui, Rose and Dirait-on (from Les Chansons des Roses), and O Nata Lux (from Lux Aeterna); they have become popular items in the choral repertoire.

The musicologist and conductor Nick Strimple, in discussing Lauridsen's sacred music, described him as "the only American composer in history who can be called a mystic, (whose) probing, serene work contains an elusive and indefinable ingredient which leaves the impression that all the questions have been answered" - probably true.

I have copied his work O Nata Lux here.

Enjoy it......

DT, remarkable music, and though born in America, his family are from Denmark, and with a name like that i am not surprised.
yes I see the "Shrub" (little Bush_ presented him with a National Medal of Arts. Truly excellent and, even though I lived in the States, this is the first time I have come across his music.

I wouldn't mind my funeral having the Magnum as a piece - with the Kings Choir singing it, of course (lol)
