Avert for a free book on how to use your lap top.. from Which magazine. I rang the free phone No. gave my details , then was asked for my bank details..to get the free book, was told i had to subscribe to the which magazine a payment each month,, I thought the ad said that the lap top book was FREE... Is it????

You can get the free book without paying for the the other one or you can get the free one & another for £2.99. As for the magazine subscription, you can cancel it as soon as you get your membership letter through. That's what I did. No problems.

Messalina is right.
I have found that in general all the free offers are genuine but you have to read the terms & conditions and usually they will charge you then give a refund when the unwanted second item is returned. I have had many 'free' gifts like this and all I would say is that it can be a bit of bother for a 'free gift'. In the end it all depends on how much effort/bother you will do for the gift.
Also you have to be quick off the mark. :)
