downloading on spotify

i have downloaded the free 30 day premium trial on spotify. I have downloaded an album to my spotify account. What I want to do is actually download the songs to my computer. I'm guessing to do this you have to click on the little tab that says GET next to the track you want. It then asks you to enter your password to verify your purchase.

What i want to know is, even though I have signed up to a free trial, will I get charged for pressing this GET tab and then purchasing the tracks I want to my computer?

Im a tad confused as it says purchase.

Yes, Spotify lets you play stuff through its software, but if you want to download it physically, you've got to buy the track you want, which is only fair really.

Alternatively, set your PC to record what comes through your speakers and then press play on your favourite Spotify tunes to grab as many free tracks as you like. No need to pay a premium or pay for download.

Top tip: Turn off other programs which might make a noise (like Outlook new message alerts). This will ensure your recordings are not spoiled by unnecessary sounds.

I don't see how. I am merely using the features of the software and have not tried to manipulate any of the Spotify code or downloaded anything illegal to listen to the music.

If they are crazy enough to let people stream music for nothing, do you not think I should take advantage of this. I can guarantee I am not the only one and have dozens of albums for free via this method.

If the TV broadcasts CSI Miami (for example) and you tape it, surely that is illegal too, as you are watching it for nothing instead of buying the DVD box set?

It is Chuck. I just use a sound recorder package. No part of Spotify has been tampered with.

Why would the TV licence cover that? If the money goes to the BBC, I doubt they hand it over to Channel 5 to pay the cast and crew of the US dramas.

No, not really Craft. It's only for my personal use. I am not selling it on and only grab it from famous artists who are already loaded. I never download from up and coming artists who need the royalties.

It's not using the built in functions of spotify (that you agreed to when you clicked the "yes I agree to this" tick box when you installed it or signed up for their service.)

You are stealing music that the original artist deserves payment for writing....

If you like a track/album enough to want to steal it, then respect the artist enough to ensure they get paid for it.

I don't recall agreeing to any terms that said I cannot use other software at the same time as I use Spotify.

British copyright law allows the recording of a broadcast for viewing at a later time, however it does not allow that recording to be kept indefinitely e.g. to form part of your video library.

Also, current British Copyright Law does not have a 'personal use' exemption.
