 On Later with Jules Holland the week end of 10th or 17th of june solo female singer, played piano, interestingly unusual voice, 2nd name Thompson (I think) but what was her first name? I must buy some of her recordings!  Thanks !

Hmm.. 10/06/05 line-up was Beck, Doves, Plantlife, Kubb and M Ward.. 17/06/05 line-up was Coldplay Jamiroquai, Magic, Numbers, Antony and the Johnsons, Billy Preston and Amadou & Mariam.. No solo females there :S KT Tunstall didn't play the piano when she was on so I don't think it could be her... Did you get any lyrics or anything?

I'm pretty sure it was Julie or Julia Thompson. I seem to remember her being played on Jazz FM a couple of weeks ago and writing down her name - i've now lost the paper, but im pretty certain its sometihng like that!

The person you are referring to is actually a guy,

 antony and the johnsons.. 

 on later he was at the piano, singing a haunting ballad called 'hope theres someone'  he used to work as a backing singer for lou reed.
