The Rock and Roll Years was a BBC TV series aired in the 80s. It featured music from the 50s and came with a cassette soundtrack. I used to own a copy of the cassette but it was stolen, and I'm trying to remember the songs featured. Can anyone give me a list of them all please?

This was (is) my favourite TV show of all time and I have each 'episode' on videotape; it covered each year from 1956 to 1980, then a new series did all the 80s. I don't recall the cassette but I managed to find a CD of it with songs from around 1970-72 so I guess there's a CD of the 50s tunes out there somewhere.

Let me know how you get on; I asked the BBC if they'd at least repeat the series but they said they'd no plans :-(

Ditto, delboy, fantastic series and  I video-taped as many as I could (especially late-60's onwards).

Some great editing and lateral thinking in terms of putting which track (of the era) to which news item. And if it had no relevence, go for the rhythm !!! (The footage of Palestinian boys apparently dancing (perfectly in time) to Norman Greenbaum's 'Spirit In The Sky' particularly rings a bell)

Thanks for your replies. I found the soundtracks at the National Sound Archive which is run by the British Library. They have copies of all of them which you can go and listen to.
