Tonight on Call the Midwife they played a song near the end and it came up as Pat Boone singing Friendly Persuasion. I know he did sing this but I don't think it's him but I can't find who it could be. If the link works, the song starts at 56.56. Those of you about my age might know the answer. Many thanks.
It is a lovely song maggiebee. I didn't listen to The Four Aces version in full, but Pat Boone had a lovely velvety chocolaty voice for this type of song.
It was The Four Aces, disappointing as Pat Boone's version was the one used in the film and was the hit both in the UK and USA. Pat Boone was actually mentioned in the programme, by a midwife, in conversation with a patient, referring to another of his hits from the period "Tuti Fruiti." The midwife then went on to refer to the baby coming quickly and Speedy Gonzlez - a shame really, as that particular hit of Pat Boone's wasn't released until 1962.
I had the subtitles on and it definitely said Pat Boone singing the song so someone has made a boo boo there in the making of the programme. Someone not doing their research properly and putting the wrong version on.
