I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think it was the Ink Spots who sang A Lovely Way to Spend An Evening during the war years. I believe Frank Sinatra also sang this song, so try both of these.

The most popular version of this song was by Johnny Desmond and the Crew Chiefs singing with the Glenn Miller Army Air Corps Band.
