Dear Lord,
This has been a tough two or three years.
You have taken my favourite actor Patrick Swayze.
My favourite musician Michael Jackson.
My favourite Blues Singer Amy Winehouse.
My favourite actress Elizabeth Taylor.
And now my favourite singer Whitney Houston.
I just wanted you to know that my favourite politicians are
Ed Miliband, David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Balls.
My opinion is that - prayers should be the praying person's own thoughts and words, not rattling off someone else composition. And praying do work if one has faith, and believe.
Society, //prayers should be the praying person's own thoughts and words, not rattling off someone else composition.//
I’ve always thought that too. Never could see the point of repeating someone else’s words – and now I can’t see the point of saying anything at all. ;o)
If your post is meant to be funny, it isn't. Religionists. of which I'm not one, should surely protest about a prayer for peoples deaths!
Generally religionists pray and pray but only remember the ones which are apparently "answered" .
I just don't see the purpose of you wasting your time and AB space!
SIQ.
SIQ Sorry to offend but I heard it at a talk given our vicar to 50 people and they roared with laughter. I won't tell you the other religious jokes he told us it may upset you. Don't you watch Father Ted for a bit of fun.
I have read your post modeller and do realise your prayers are directed sorry as far as I am concerned at the people who have prayers - there are other OPs big time who need your prayers- I guess the above people do have their own relatives who pray for them - let's not forget those who don't have anybody to pray for them. To all those whether you believe or not but I am one who does believe and what you and also others prayers have got me through. I do have two cousins two nuns (two sisters) they pray for me every day and I do think they got me through 2011 (sorry for being boring re 2011).
I am not a politically correct person - never ever have been - but what about the respect when Princess Di died and others after her ie young soldiers in Afghanistan and other countries who died for their countries - I feel there was some religious aspect paid to those who sacrificed their lives for their countries - also the queen paying respects to the poppies thingmajig - surely there is a religious context there.
