About 50+ years ago at primary school we were taught a long song that I think was partly about Robin Hood, it changed tune part way through. Does anyone remember learning something similar as I would like to track it down.

This is very long and seems to have two different parts- The Ballad of Alan a Dale: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sherwoodtimes/balladof.htm

Was it the theme song from the tv series, I think Richard Greene played Robin Hood.
Robin hood robin hood riding through the Glen
Robin hood robin hood with his merry men
Robbed from the rich gave to the poor
Robin hood robin hood
That was the first programme transmitted on UTV sometime in the late 50s. All the kids disappeared off the street to watch it.
Dick James is the singer on the above video clip.

Ah yes sandy, t'was great. After The Robin Hood tv show finished our street would be full boys chasing each other around with home made bows and arrows.
Did you play Zorro too ? Lol

No it definitely wasn't the theme tune but more of a folk ballad
No minty, but we did play William Tell though and The Lone Ranger.
Had the Robin Hood song on a 78, The Ballad of Davy Crockett was on the other side.
and this is the only other one I can find

Thanks Filbert and smoneybags, these seem more likely but I've looked at the words and don't recognise them, I distinctly [ well vaguely remember Robin winding his horn]

//winding his horn// ??
"Winding his Horn"??
Sounds like a euphemism. Hope it didn't send him blind.
