Half listening to Sunday Worship I heard a Salvation Army band play this tune. What's the hymn called?

The tune, which is called Austria in Hymnals was written by Joseph Haydn. The two which commonly use this tune are: Glorious things of thee are spoken and Praise the Lord, ye heavens adore him.

"Oh Tannenbaum" is sung in many churches anyway. The words aren't exactly a hymn but they're particularly appropriate if a church has a Christmas Tree Festival (as many here in East Anglia do):

O Tannenbaum is a hymn .It's a German christmas carol based on an old folk song .

If I remember rightly 'Oh Tannenbaum' is the tune of the Socialist International which goes something like this :

The Peoples flag is deepest red.

It was sung every year at the Labour Party and the TUC conferences.
