The Big Question - Can I ...... Or Can't I .......
14 Answers
....... drink alcohol whilst taking amoxicillin ..... and if so, how much ??
I'm on a course of 7 days, 3 x 500mg capsules per day.
I'm finding conflicting opinions as to whether I can drink or not.
I've found out that there's no adverse reactions by mixing the 2, but I don't want to drink too much over the weekend, if it lessens the effectiveness of the antibiotic (assuming that this is actually true).
C'mon peeps .... who knows what ??

The big nasty one is metronizadole which has the same effect as antabuse. You really DO NOT want to drink with that one.
You are advised not to drink with doxycycline as its pretty hard on the liver and alcohol makes it worse.
The other thing is that if people drink heavily and get an upset stomach or throw up then the antibiotic may not stay around long enough to do any good.
