The Fat Reg Thread

I've just noticed Sir Elton's name being taken (affectionately) in vain on another thread.
It reminded me that (despite not being quite my 'usual cup of tea') he played two of the most memorable sets I've ever seen - at Birmingham Town Hall in about 1973/4 and then at Wembley Stadium in 1976 - I'd gone to see The Eagles ... honest.
The man is a consummate showman and has written more good songs than you could shake the proverbial stick at.

I might take the mick sometimes, but he is a national treasure even when he behaves like an old queen [ tantrums & tiaras], and I love him to death, my fav song got to be Benny & the Jets.
Also if ever I hear Candle in the Wind I think of him at Princess Diane's funeral, how he kept his composure I shall never know. Well done all round
