No, not the Springsteen number, but the old Chuck Berry song also covered by Elvis and many more.
I heard a version of it on my car radio yesterday, that I hadn't heard before.
It was by Johnnie Allen and had a Cajun sound to it. The thing is it was so evocative and emotive, I couldn't pull out of the car park until I'd listened to the whole song, I swear I had goose bumps on my goose bumps.
The song is basically about a bus, train and plane trip from Norfolk, Virginia to los Angeles, I was just amazed how powerful it was.

"Working on a T-bone steak a la cartee
Flying over to the golden state
Ah when the pilot told us in thirteen minutes
He would set us at the terminal gate"

Classic, Chippers. Johnnie Allan's my favourite version too. :o)
Johnnie Allan's version is on god's juke box ;)

Thanks Booldawg, I don't have an mp3 player yet but I'm thinking about it.

Hope he had time to finish that Tbone, Builders! I can almost taste the A1 sauce and the onion rings ummmm.

That don't surprise me Humbersloop. I'm just glad I got to hear it even if it was about 1/2 a centuary late!
