Zero Hour Contracts And Sickness
This is just a thought.......... (senario) if someone was on a zero hour contract and was scheduled to work 30 hours for one particular week then the employer reduces the hours to 15 hours at short notice - during this (reduced) 15 hours the person goes sick (but does not get paid) - should this still be recorded on their sick record?

Practically speaking I think that if they are too sick too often you just lay them off - unfair dismissal only locks in at 24 months ( after 1 Apr 2012)
If the contract allows the employee to choose hours ( as well as employer ) then it comes into the category of " mutuality of obligation" and the courts may find the worker self - employed
Mutuality of obligation is where one party agree to supply work as a contractual clause and the other agrees to do it as a clause
- technical answer - well you put it into the law column and not chaddabank
