Sad day indeed, Andy. Yes are one of my favourite prog-rock groups ever. Jon Anderson's vocals may have been front and centre, but Chris was very integral to the band's unique sound. RIP Chris.

he was good, very good - but i guess "definitive" might depend on your favoured music genre. for the progressive rock field chris squire was right up there but for me, for all round versatility, it has to be carol kaye.

I interviewed CS for Bass Guitar Magazine and he told me that he has been playing the same Rickenbaker bass for over forty years. He has had it painted and sanded that many times that it now has a unique body weight which he thinks contributes to the sound. How said it won't be played again.

seen yes in 1978 and 1988,
78 in the stafford bingley hall, almost didnt see them , lost the tickets, had to wait till last person entered till the security let us in. and 88 in the nec brum.
cant find words to describe the gigs, just mind blowing. i was mesmerized!!!

You sure it wasn't 1977, piggy? I was on leave from the army in early November '77 and saw them at Stafford. I returned to my unit in Germany and saw them again in Dusseldorf in mid November.
