I've just heard Rick Wakemans instrumental version of David Bowies 'Life On Mars' and its absolutely fantastic!

The proceeds are goring to McMillan cancer research and I hope it will raise a lot of cash.

I heard Tony Hadley sing that at a music festival a few years ago and he was fantastic
RickWakeman is a fantastically talented pianist, but being picky, I'd prefer it a bit slower. Still great, though.
I heard it just before I went out. How lovely was that? What a gorgeous melody.

When you listen to the construction and chords of this fabulous song, you appreciate the genius of Bowie's writing - and this was just one song on one album - there are so many more.

The great thing about the tributes to Bowie is that they are not the usual 'genius now he's gone' platitudes - everyone knew Bowie was a genius while he was still alive.
I had never realised he was the original pianist
