How Far To See A Gig?
8 Answers
My daughter and I love Simple Plan and made a 3000-mile road trip to see them in Vilnius (Lithuania), the last gig of their European tour, in June. Towards the end of November we're flying out to Montreal to see them in their home town.
We're not the only globetrotters of course. How far have you travelled to see a band?

I can't being to compete with that - the furthest I have been is London - a360-mile round trip.
I do go to Montreal to the Jazz Festival every year, and see loads of gigs, but that is work, so it doesn't really count because I don't pay for it, or go to see someone specific, I just soak up all the free gigs I can fit in.

Heartbreak. Simple Plan have been forced to cancel their Canada shows because the singer has wrecked his voice, been instructed to stay off the mic for at least 4 weeks.
I wish him the best, of course, but the sickener is a paltry £270 refund for flights (out of almost £1400). Annoys me that airlines can do that. All well and good, I suppose, if you cancel just because you've changed your mind, but when it's completely out of your control...
Gutted.
