Life fighting death?
0 Answers
I have an etching picked up in a junk shop twenty years ago and I would love to know more about it. It is 18in high, 13 in across. It depicts a doctor in a pale blue surgical gown and cap. He has his right arm around a naked woman. She has her right arm on the Drs shoulder and her face is turned into his body and she has long brown hair. A skeleton kneeling on one knee has its arms around the woman and the Dr has his left hand on the skull of the skeleton, pushing it away. It had '1st prize Vienna 1931' written on the back ( I think this is the date, it isn't entirely clear). There is a signature in pencil on the etching but it is indecipherable. Now an odd point: I was watching the film version of the Who's rock opera Tommy and I am sure I caught a glimpse of this etching on the mad doctors surgery wall. Can anyone tell me more?
