Is one side of the album compiled of songs which make a story? If so, what is the story about, song by song. Or is it my imagination?

To me, it is about a girl skating who dies by falling through the ice.

The side of the album is called "The Ninth Wave".

It's a great album. To me the second half is more impressionistic that narrative. I think some of it was inspired by Tennyson. There's a book out now that explains the concept of the Ninth Wave. There's a picture in the inlay where she looks like she's drowning. I like Under the Ivy which may not be on all versions.

A common misconception with Running Up That Hill is that she wants to swap places with God where in fact she means with her partner.
