I interviewed the band back in the 80's, and they were always massive in Europe, and largely ignored over here. After the interview, when the whole band were great fun, and a great interview, I saw them perform at the Birmingham Odeon in front of an audience of no more than a couple of hundred, in a venue that holds ten times that number.
My abiding memory to this day is watching Lee Harris playing drums, his long hair swinging to his nodding head, and the fan keeping him cool, and me watching him with his eyes closed and thinking that this is a man and a band who are utterly absorbed in what they do.
It was a fabulous show, under-appreciated by a nation who should have recognised the genius of Mark Hollis.
Of course, all over social media they recognise it now - but now is too late.
