What year did "Strangers on the Shore" make it to number one?


Did it get re-released at a later date to make an appearance on Top of the Pops?

1961, although Guinness says "no 2".


stranger on the shore wasn't re-released, but acker bilk did appear on totp with "aria" which got to no 5 in 1976.

Stranger on the Shore did not get to Number 1. It only ever made No 2. Possibly some reason for any confusion is that it stayed in the Top Thirty for over a year and holds (or held) the record for the longest ever stay in the chart.
