Neighbours - Just Curious!!
29 Answers
Soooo, on one side we have a single guy who moved in 6 months ago. Never hear a peep out of him. Lovely man. Other side......lovely couple in their late 60’S. They have a son in his 40’s who has some kind of disability and will never leave home. He loves music, and spends nearly all day in garden either singing or dancing, playing banjo, tambourine, anything!! You can’t have a conversation outside or even talk properly. Then they also have another son who is an ex drug addict, who spend all day on his mobile phone in garden to god knows who but he talks so loudly I could recite every word of every conversation.
How are your neighbours??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.We have a family here with two autistic boys, one about 12 the other 10. They play loudly and aggressively, the best thing is their parents (nice calm folks) bought them a trampoline and blimey they use it! At least theyre burned out within an hour. It does sometimes end up with one getting hurt and they scream the place down. Other than that folk here usually doing diy with powertools saws n hammers, everyday! And the bypass near us has sirens and motorbikes howling with the occasional truck airhorns near the junctions. We turn the radio up alot...
We live at the closed end of a cul-de-sac, which means no through traffic passing our door. For anyone who likes peace and quiet, this is the place to be. On one side we have a single mum with 5 year old daughter, both lovely people. Mum has offered to help us in lockdown (we are pensioners), but no need for that just yet. On the other side we have a middle-aged couple, again very pleasant and quiet. They don't have many visitors. The rest of the neighbours in our cul-de-sac we just say hello to, don't really know them. Can't complain, really.
I live in a small block of flats and my neighbours are all quiet even though some of them are youngsters! My only issue is with one who goes outside late at night to smoke weed. The smell, which turns my stomach, drifts into my bedroom. Mind you I have been sleeping well recently....second hand smoke maybe? ;-)
I'm hoping to move in the next 12 months to get away from my area. Been in Thornton Heath for nearly 25 years and during this time I've had problems with neighbours on one side of me. The ones on the other side are lovely and we've been helping each other the last couple of months.
Hoping to move to Coulsdon or anywhere round that way.

Although we are so close to the Prom, our road is reasonably quiet. There are only a few guesthouses left now with most of them either having been turned into flats/HMOs.single dwellings. The immediate neighbour, to our left, was an elderly widower who has has just gone to live with his daughter in Poole; the house on the right is an HMO - we regularly natter with 2 of the tenants who have ground floor rooms. The others smile and say 'hello'.
We have quite a large turnover of residents on our street most of whom are pleasant to pass the time of day with.
And we also have recently has a 'celebrity' move in across the road.....I use 'celebrity' in its' loosest sense although she will definitely be familiar to some Abers. :o)

I don't really have problems with our current neighbours/lodgers.
One side is a couple with two sons in early twentiesMum and Dad are industrious and their presence sends me quite euphoric on warm barmy evenings when their two lads and their mates puff the herbal substance in the 'games room' at the bottom of their garden. :-) Mum and Dad are kind and considerate but Dad can't cook BBQs for toffee and we had to rescue about 20 of memsahib's winter coats and fleeces off the washing line. We thought they were about to eat burnt inner tubes judging by the smell and smoke wafting over the garden.Personally I preferred the 'weed'. Apparently, according to wifey's admonitions hubby hadn't got the charcoal hot enough before his fatty ribs were ready to cook. I could of tipped him off. We use Gas. ( don't sniff it though).
Other side is occupied by three middle-aged people. Two Northern lads and a Eastern European llady. All in work.
The landlord is a weasel and rarely seen. Usual problem. Lack of maintenance in the garden . Memsahib ventures into the garden, with their permission to weed their garden when coming into our garden. The lads are embarrassed and state they would do it but the landlord locks gardening tools in the garage which is falling down. If I were a supergrass I would of reported said weasel for misuse of Vehicle Trade Plates as he fails to pay VED and undoubtedly is not entitled to the plates,Hey Ho. On the whole we have had worse neighbours when the actual owners lived along side us. No real complaints. Life could be worse. :-)
Neighbour on one side, a lovely young girl & she does video workouts to music at home. So you get the thump thump of the music & I try to exercise too!!
On my other side another lovely young couple, both share the same first name so when talking over the fence & you call tthem, they both come running!
When they moved in they gave us a bottle of whisky.
