Just been out for a walk with doggie.A nice starry night up here in Bieldside.The Plough constellation is directly overhead,Orions belt is on the horizon in the southwest,and the plieades are visible on the western horizon.I have never seen the Plough directly overhead,usually to the north.Has the Earth taken a tilt?

The position of the earth changes over the year. It changes season to season.

Im not really into astronomy,s/g.Does the Plough constellation ever appear to the south.Its always to the north up here in Aberdeen.

No moon,is that usual?
The earth has a 23deg tilt. Hence the seasons.

According to "Time and Date.com", the moon set at 7:20pm in Aberdeen.

Thanks,sanmac.I would like to get into this whole astronomy business.Was once told that without the moon,the earth would collapse or spin out of orbit.Nonsense surely.
