By my reckoning, he's about 70 now. He has been in prison for 33 years for the brutal rape and murder of two fifteen-year-old girls, three years apart.

I'm not an advocate of the death penalty, but I don't think he should be released. What do you think?

There are lots of anomalies. I remember a case where 2 teenagers were having a fist fight and one of them unfortunately was killed. Because he was under age the killer was sentenced to be detained "at Her Majesty's Pleasure". He was still in prison 30 years later.

From his picture, he looks evil and NO, he should not be allowed out. Can't even think why it's being considered. I feel so sorry for his victims families.

TTT, while I don't disagree with you. There are only about 75 prisoners in England and Wales with full-life sentences...
Either violent people need to be properly rehabilited before a chance of release- or all should have full-life sentences. Prison keeps people off the streets for a while, it doesn't make them any safer though.
Realistically, as we don't have the money or space to keep monsters locked up forever- the priority should be who is or isn't likely to reoffend.

Brenda Spencer got 25yrs prison sentence in 1979. So why wasnt she released in 2004?

A friend of mine is serving life (19 years) for murder. It was a random, one off, drunken incident. He never broke the law before & never would do again. It just seems futile. I suppose it gives the deceased's family and friends vengeance but it's such a waste.
