One of my favorite cover's was Madcons cover of Beggin by the Four seasons about 8-10 years ago. The original off course plus a dance remix of the Frankie Vallie version 10-12 years or so ago was also good
There's now another version getting air play and in the charts and I was so disappointed when hearing it. Just does'nt do the classic song any favours for me.

Does nothing for me.
Played the first minute, doesn't impress me.
It's different, but not my thing. Credit to them for trying something new, rather than doing a by-the-numbers cover.
Madcon struck a better level with their cover.
I think the younger generation will like it.
Personally, I like the original.
I am not keen on young artists piggy-backing on the talents of other musicians, so i won;t be trying this, because I disliked the other cover version.

It's like 'tribute bands' - it's not a 'tribute', it's piggy-backing on someone else's success that they have worked hard for and you are simply copying with little effort.
If I was listening to a pub band, who were determined to add their own influences to a well-known number, I'd find it perfectly acceptable - but I won't be rushing to add it to my own playlist just yet!
I think that the worse cover I have ever heard is Jamie Cullum's version of Everlasting Love.
If you like Madcon, give this a try ;-)

I disagree Andy. Often a decent cover (of which this isn't one) can be that helping hand to get a new act noticed before launching their own material on the public. Many bands have done covers early in their career before going on to huge sucess.
Awful...no soul, horrible grating voice.
Isn't this the group that won Eurovision?
Måneskincan actually produce some quality tracks when they stick to both originality and Italian. This is somewhat reminiscent of the work of Mexico's Café Tacvba:

Loved the original, loved the Madcon cover. Another cover would have to be really good to stand comparison to those two,and this one falls well short. That said, if I walked into a pub and this band was performing this track live, I'd be quite happy.
^^^ Well that's two of us who think that the version passes 'the pub band test', anyway ;-)
Ah, yep, sorry Chris ...
I like covers to be different from the original and this is. Saying that, though the original is not particularly a song I like, this version is a miss for me unfortunately.
No need to apologise, Ellipsis!

I was welcoming the agreement!

;-)

Totally disagree with that. All music borrows from what went before. The Beatles and the Stones were great borrowers of US blues masters, and they went on to make lots of great original music.
Absolutely spot on Sunk, both bands did successful covers early in their careers (Please Mr Postman, Twist and Shout etc for the Beatles, Not Fade Away for the Stones).
Did that group appear in Eurovision?

Got bored of their version at about 2mins.

For a good cover look for Sound of Silence by Disturbed. Also look for REO Brothers (and their individual channels)
