I want to do the Elvis thing. You know , pop in somewhere and record a song , then leave with it pressed on vinyl\cd to give it to someone special. In the 60's there were booths on train station platforms and I believe in Woolworth where you could do this. Is such a service still available?

It looks so easy on the Elvis film doesn't it - but I doubt you'll find it that easy. To get into a half decent studio might not be that easy. Look for those Red Letter days - like drive a Ferarri etc, except some places do a 'record a song in a studio for a day' kind of thing. It wouldn't be that cheap and you'd probably be given a CD at the end of it with your recording. I used to work for Woolworths when I was younger and I'm not aware of them doing any kind of service like that - and I used to work for a CD manufacturer and if you were to get a CD pressed - you'd probably be looking at a minimum run of 500 copies. Hope that helps!
