First step, assuming that your record deck is wired up to an hi-fi system, is to wire up the hi-fi (line out) to your computer (line in). Thus the music is entering the computer. It then has to be captured as a sound file. I use Nero Burning Rom, which has a feature entitled "Nero Wave editor", which lets you record the sound and then take out bits you don't want eg the first track on side 2 that you don't particularly want. Other sound recording software might also let you filter out pops and crackles. Then, the other part of Nero lets you burn it to a CD, for which you obviously need a CD writer. There are, obviously other makes of software, but that's the general principles. Hope that helps.
