Zelenskyy Says He Is 'Truly Thankful' To Us After Trump Row
//We are very grateful to the United States for all the support. I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.//
A gracious man in an impossible position.

Trump is right about certain things - immigration being one of them - but clearly he will let nothing stand in the way of what he wants and if he has to throw VZ and Ukraine under the bus, so be it. He is a multi-dimensional character is POTUS.
If Harris had won, America and Europe would have carried on giving enough support to Ukraine for a continuation of the war, but not enough to achieve anything.
I'm puzzled how that approach seemed to attract no criticism. I wonder if Trump would have attracted criticism if he decided to carry on the status quo.
It may be terrible for Ukraine & maybe for Europe but at least Trump - however cack-handedly - is trying to end the stalemate & thus the continuing loss of life.
How long would the war go on if the West simply continued supporting Ukraine's armed struggle & how many more killed on both sides & how much more property destroyed.
It's got to stop.
The USA had to get out of Vietnam realising they were losing & the cost was too high. The West lost in Afghanistan et al. It's not always the good guys who come out on top even if we want it to be.

the existing approach had inflicted enormous losses on Russia and reduced their invasion to a bloody stalemate including an invasion of their own territory. it set a clear precedent that such predatory aggression will not succeed. it made nato considerably stronger and gave it a new sense of purpose.
the new approach will set a very different precedent. it will reward russian aggression and all but invite it to happen again.

Well, many have said this war was provoked by the west to weaken Russia.
