Would someone please tell mewhy U.S radio stations are made up of 4 letters in their titles ?

Some of the older stations have three-letter call signs, but you can find out all about that at the above link.

Another piece of trivia - for the most part, call signs east of the Mississippi River begin with the letter "W" while west of the Mississippi they start with a "K." (There are one or two stations that buck that trend.)
