omg, thank goodness for that. i thought I was the only human on the face of the earth who just didnt GET the beatles. i cant bear them, what did they do that was so fab? wear stupid clothes, have puddin basin haircuts? yeah, yeah, yeah....

wait for the onslaught now re how absolutely brill they were!!!! good on ya Qmark78 :)

elvis was rock and roll, not this bunch of liverpudlian plebs.....

I wouldn't say hate them, but i don't rate them. George was really underrated and Ringo was great at Thomas the Tank Engine.
At last, common sense. The most overrated group ever!
Oh dear Qmark, you're at it again aren't you? LOL

What makes me wrong and you right may i ask?

Ermmmmmmmmmm

Dunno, it just does!

lol, im kidding ok?

dont you lot know nothing about music melody or lyrics
Easy to be contentious by saying stuff like "The Beatles are crap" or "sliced bread is rubbish" or "television is the worst invention in history". But, of course, while we can all knock Paul McCartney now he is an old man for being a bit soppy about animals and stuff and we can take the **** out of Lennon and Harrison for being dead, it doesn't detract from the fact that The Beatles changed the face of music and history. Without them you don't know what music would sound like. It might be completely different, it might even be better or something you might like more, but before The Beatles things were bad (rock n roll and blues was underground music) and afterwards many bands were inspired to do their own thing and experiment.

The influence is still felt today, and probably a lot of the bands and music YOU like has been influenced directly or indirectly by at least ONE Beatles song...so maybe, just maybe, they're better than you think. Try listening properly to the music (album tracks as well as singles) and you might find it's actually a lot better than you think. Not that the multi-millionnaire songwriters in The Beatles whose music is known and sung and loved the world over would have cared either way.

Sliced bread, frozen food, electricity, the internet - all rubbish.
with out the beatles u would have been just a nother stain on the rug.

Poglet,.............Elvis may have been rock n roll but....... as John Lennon once said............Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles.

Ok i blame Elvis then!
You cant blame Elvis...blame John Lennon he said it...the lousy g!t lol

The Beatles are quite simply the best and most succesfully innovative group of musicians ever. Thats not just an opinion its fact. McCartney was a genius. Listen to the chord changes and the key changes in Penny Lane as an example. Lennon had his faults and got caught up in the fame thing, but as his song says a ' working class hero is something to be.' Harrison was a brilliant musician who, athough less prolific than Lennon or McCartney, was given plenty of album space for his many great songs, try 'Revolver' for example. As for Ringo, try listening to 'A Day In The Life' from Sgt Pepper. Proof that he could play the drums when he had to.

well i am with feebal on this one. The Beatles are f**king class.

Poglet - Elvis rocked for about 3 years until he went into the army. The beatles rocked all the time. Elvis could not handle the drugs, with them he got worse while when the beatles were on drugs when got better. And Elvis never worte a song!

Question Author
Just to clear summit up i like neither Elvis or The Beatles as for The Beatles drug induced period they were trying to copy a superior act like Pink Floyd
donegal..He co-wrote Heartbreak Hotel....oh, and dont forget the 200 cheeseburgers and 50 peanut butter and banana sandwiches he ate every day

Feebal must be a time traveller. "Without them you dont know what music would sound like?" How does he know? The Beatles were insects who should have been stamped on. Of the main 2, Paul is an embarrassment to rock n roll and John was, and still is, an overrated hippy.
Elvis lived and died rock and roll.
The Beatles were the Status Quo of the 60s. Its not my fault there are so many misguided fools out there. Just because they were popular, doesnt mean they were any good. Westlife anyone?
