Do you mean Deep Purple's "Black Amp:White"?

Many bands have had a song called "DEEP PURPLE"

from 1921 to present day

The composers though are Peter de Rose and Mitchell Parish

the Peter De Rose/Mitchell Parish song "Deep Purple" most notably recorded by Nino Tempo & April Stevens in 1963, later covered by some Osmond siblings...
It was originally published in 1933 as an instrumental written by Peter De Rose, and Mitchell Parish added lyrics in 1939.

Well-known recordings:
1934 - Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra (instrumental)
1939 - Larry Clinton Orchestra (voc. Bea Wain - probably the first vocal version)
1957 - The Dominoes (doo-wop version)
1963 - Nino Tempo & April Stevens (arguably the best-known version, a US number one)
1976 - Donny & Marie Osmond
