I'm trying to make a CD for my litle brother with a compilation of acoustic songs.
Does anyone have any recommendations for what I could put in. I don't want any big name artists, and he likes kind of slow and ambient stuff: like Nick Drake, Loudon Wainwright III and Elliot Smith for example.
well in my humble opinion....
anji by davey graham, classical gas by eric clapton (not the mason williams one), anything instrumental by john renbourn, the acoustic version of everlong by foo fighters, your ghost by kirsten Hirsch. all available for free on kazaa due to the collective genius and magnanimity of geeks and music lovers everywhere...... ;-)
Tom Russell - US folk singer.....John Prine - Same......Dougie MacLean - Scottish folk.......Maura O'Connell - Irish folk....I could go on for hours...but try these for a start and if you want more repost.
Classical Gas is probably the nicest acoustic song I've heard. I, myself, prefer the one by Mason Williams with the guitar only but there's also a different version of the song with an orchestra with it as well.
