Anyone know where i can download music for free? It would be nice if i could get it on my ipod! - But i just wanna download loads of music for FREE! (I have limewire, Napster and ITunes) Thanks!

What kind of music are you looking to download?

If you look on MySpace, there are plenty of bands that will let you download a few of their tracks.

Typically, the more famous a band is the more likely they'll only allow you to stream rather than download their music.

Well, The thing is my Dad won't let me BUY any music from Itunes or anything like that becuase you can get it for free...

Yeah, i do want the more famous kinda bands - eg. Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Zutons etc

Coz most of the ones i have are only 5 seconds long and i can't get any video's to work on my ipod either :P

Well, the only way you can get music like you're talking about for free is either when they offer free samples - e.g. on their websites or by breaking the law.

I totally understand the try-before-you-buy mentality if you're into music that you can't hear on the radio or TV, but the Chillis and the Zutons hardly fit into that category.

Yes, record companies make ridiculous profits and yes, the music industry is licensed theft to a substantial degree and I'm in favour of artist-centric business models but that doesn't excuse theiving of music, and that *is* what you're talking about, because you're not looking to download this free stuff with a view to buying it if you like it by the sound of it.

But, what's with this limewire and other websites. Half of them say that there legal etc...
