Try as I might, I just can't seem to get myself to like The Killers. Honestly, are they really as good as the music industry would have us believe? I just can't hear anything new, exciting or groundbreaking about their music. Am I mental or is it simply a case of good marketing?
I absolutely love The Killers, got the album as soon as it come out.....loads of kak out there at the moment - they arn't in that category!! They must be doing something right - sell out concerts and that!!
That's true, there is a lot of kak out there at the moment, but there is less of it than there was a few years ago. I just want to know what makes them so special. The band recently said that the songs on the latest album are an exploration of the lead singer's Mormon faith. I just don't get it.... how?
I always preferred The Super Furry Animals anyway!
I agree completely agree.
I often find new bands that the music press raves about are lost on me.
They tend to be very unoriginal guitar bands such as Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys et al.
Whenever I read of a new upcoming band that are the bees knees I just don't even bother investigating any more.
Ahem.. I didn't want to lump the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand in the 'kak' group I'm afraid! I quite like those two. At least the Arctic Monkeys combine good music and lyrics. But, as my wife has just pointed out, it's all personal taste isn't it!
I think the problem with bands like the Killers is there are SOO many bands out right now that all sound the same. I can't tell them apart, and it's not like I'm an old lady. BUT, if they're all going to sound the same, I'd rather they have the guitar/rock sound rather than having a bunch of boy and girl bands from a few years ago!
I really like the Killers, the new album needs to grow on you I think, Hot fuss was an instant hit with me. Just got Albert Hammond Jr's Tell it like it is, sounding good, sounding good.
I detest the Killers. I can't seem to want to get to like them.
There's nothing new that I haven't already heard and lyrically they're not the sharpest tool in the drawer, but then again most popular music these days aren't either.
